Funny, it wasn't my persistence, charm or good looks that coaxed him from his burrow, but it was the exact moment the garbage truck rumbled by ! They were both on high animated alert at that sound of the truck a block away and the moment it was across from us he and was out of the ground like a shot.... only got a piece of him in flight totally unexpected and he was on that little perch in an instant. She stayed behind and hunkered down.

We wondered if the sanitation guys were feeding them....... Sure seemed like a learned response at the time.

I spend some time each winter in CC and always enjoy seeing those little guys. Have gotten some reasonable shots but still looking for better (ha, aren't we all!). I leave here Jan. 31st, can't wait. I have some good sites marked on my GPS from prior years
