I find post processing these to be a challenge. Especially when there is a luminous incandescent city in the distance. edit thoughts?

There is a lot of chromatic aberration in the stars, I would suggest removing it. Besides that, it's a great shot!

Like the composition a lot.
Don't see the CA Allan is talking about at this magnification but for Canon 5D III @ ISO 2500, you have too much noise specially in shadows. This looks like the result I used to get from my Baba 1D. Not sure what you did in post processing but look again into processing. Don't over correct exposure for shadows and if still excess noise is apparent, try a noise removal f(NeatImage or Topaz DeNoise) at a rate that doesn't involve stars to a significant extend.

Thanks for the comments. Actually, I used Nik Dfine, but didn't want to use this too strongly as I was worried about masking out some of the stars. i agree noise near the horizon looks particularly bad on this. Funny, I don't wee that in photoshop or LR so it could be some artifacts from resizing????
