Has anyone used this lens with the Metabones IV adapter that could tell me how the focusing is on the A7II?

Hi, I try it in store. I feel slowly. AF are correct. But I prefer MF is faster.

I have the AII, Metabones IV (with the latest firmware) and the 70-200 non IS. I have yet to try that combo. I will test it out tomorrow.

Heres my non scientific review: AF is quick but not as fast as my 6D. There is a definite quarter to half a second lag when acquiring focus (you can hear the motor trying a little harder). I found the set up had issues when focusing with something that had very little contrast. I was attempting to focus on a black trash can that was roughly 30 feet away, it kept hunting and hunting until I gave up. I was shooting just around sunset on a cloudy day so the available light was limited.

In the end I was somewhat pleased with the performance, there were times where it grabbed focus right away. However, if I had a wedding tomorrow, I would be using the 6D. I felt like there were to many instances where the lens was hunting for focus. On a plus note, colors, sharpness, and contrast are top notch as one would expect with the 70-200 L.

Thank you for the report.

I had the IS version when I had my 6D and it was a very nice combo, but in the end I sold the zoom in favour of something a bit more discreet (size and colour) and bought the 200 L ii. I switched over to Sony A7ii and the 200 L ii is still with me, it's a very under rated lens, sharp straight up from f2.8, with lovely bokeh, it's black and similar in size and weight as my 100L. Every now and then I think it would be nice to get the zoom again, there's a non IS version about to go on eBay and I was tempted, so it was timely to read your mini review, thanks you just saved me a bit of cash...
