I just bought the FZ1000 recently. I've been playing around in the IA+ mode and I'm impressed with what I'm seeing so far. Anyone else use this mode primarily for general shooting? How have your results been using this mode so far? I also found several FZ1000 "how to" videos from Panasonic, for new owners, on YouTube as well. Another thing that I like is that I'm able to use decoded generic lithium batteries that I have from a previously owned FZ200.

The fact that you have had no replies so far probably indicates that most people who use this camera (at least those who here on POTN) do NOT shoot in auto (Ia) mode much, if at all.

That being said, from what I have seen so far while playing around with my FZ1000 I'm guessing it's possibly one of the best in its class for producing good results when shooting in auto mode.

For me, shooting RAW is the only way to go because it gives me maximum control in processing the image (rather than Panasonic doing it in-camera), but I would use Ia in two situations:

1. If I had to quickly grab a shot when I didn't have time to set or change any settings other turn the mode dial to Ia.
2. If I was handholding for a night scene, because the camera handles this so well (see other posts on this forum) that I'd have to work hard to do it better!

I tend to shoot mostly in aperture mode. Since I've read good reviews about the camera's IA+ mode, I thought I'd play mostly in that setting for a while to see for myself; I can't complain so far.
