I'm having problems with the batteries draining when my camera is off. I've replaced the batteries with new ones and its still doing the same thing. It's been doing this for about a month now. it will show a full charge and a few hours later, show the battery life half gone when im not using it. usually within a day, maybe a day and a half, 2 days at the most, the battery is completely dead. Anyone know what the problem could be?

Welcome to POTN.:-)

Since you've tried new batteries, I would suspect the charger is going bad.

thank you :)
that was the next thing i was thinking about replacing. it does show the batteries are charging in the charger, but maybe that doesn't mean anything. when i put the batteries in the camera, it shows they are fully charged tho

One other thing to check: Are you using Canon lenses? Some third party lenses can cause this phenomenon.

what happens to the charge of the batteries when they're not in the camera after a couple of days?

some fairly old canon camera stuff, canon lenses, Manfrotto "thingy", and an M5, also an M6 that has had a 720nm filter bolted onto the sensor:

Camera draining battery when off is a fault which is known to occur. I bought a 100D which had that fault from new. It would drain battery in about 6 days. I removed lens and card as I was curious if that would make any difference, it did not.
I can't provide any help with repair details as Canon came back with "no fault found" after having camera for 3 months.

I didn't try that yet. I was going to try it, but I decided to take it back to where I bought it at today to see what they would tell me

Mine is draining in about 12 hours to about 24 hours. The past few days, it's completely dead withing a day. I took it back to the place where I bought it from and the guy I talked to said it could be the internal battery that's causing it to drain the battery since I have to keep setting the date and time every time I put a charged battery in. I know before this happened, I never had to keep setting the date and time. I left it there at the store so one of their techs could figure it out and let me know what they find. Hopefully its nothing serious!
Anyone know if the Rebel T3i has an internal battery???

Like most DSLR it has an internal battery and it draws its charge level off the main battery. If it is working properly this drain on the main battery is minimal. My 60D for instance can go a month without use and still be around 75% of charge.

ok, thanks :) I hope that's all it is and nothing serious! I should know something by the end of the week. Maybe it's just the internal battery, but also someone else said it could be the circuit board  I might be better off getting another camera if it costs too much

I took my camera back to the place where I bought it at this past Sunday. They checked to see if the internal battery was the problem since one of the guys who worked there thought that could be it. They called yesterday and said that was NOT the problem. It's something wrong with the camera  They are suppose to send it out to Canon today. When they find the problem, they're suppose to let me know what it is. I should know something in about a week I guess. When i find out something, I will post the updates on here.
