I hope the D500 AF system works like the D5, because I'll never afford a D5.

The HIgh Iso performance on good glass and the AF system they have incorporated is Game changing technology. Hoping the 1Dx2 matches in performance

Rats. This renders my current setup completely useless and obsolete. How does anyone expect to take any good images without one of these now?

It's kind of embarrassing how defensive people get when newer better cameras are released/announced.

Why is this in the Canon subforum?

Those ISO figures are amazing, for sure. Looks very impressive, and for 6,500 bucks, it'd better be.

Don't get too hung up on the ISO numbers. In the article the OP referred to, the writer stated the following,

"Based on the jpg-files I have reviewed and edited, the image quality up to ISO 12 800 looks very clean. I would not have any problems including most of these ISO 12 800 images in my image bank or for high quality printing. With the D4S cameras this image quality was equal to approx. ISO 4000 – 5000. This is something like 1.5 stop improved ISO performance, which is very good."

Really high ISO capability should always be taken with a grain of salt. Despite that, the new D5 had the potential of being an extraordinary camera if it lives up to the hype in general use. Time will tell.

I'm more interested in the test results for the D500. Much more realistic price for most of us! I've heard it's basically the same camera just in a crop body!
