I don't clean the inside of the storm window to promote frost. (That's my story, & I'm sticking to it!)
White frost against a white background is kind of blah, so I blended some blue in.

Two of these looked like trees to me. #3 seems to have some elements of a forest.
All were shot with the 85mm f/1.8 & a 36mm extension tube.

Lovely. Reminds me of the first photos ever produced by Anna Atkins used to illustrate a book.

I had never heard of her & looked her up. Thanks for the reference & the comment!

lovely. I keep trying to get frost like this on my windows...

I have never figured out exactly why it forms.
These were from a unheated room on a N facing storm window that I haven't cleaned, & they're on the inside of the outside pane. They're best when they first form & usually the 2nd day, too. By the third day, they've all run together unless we get a warm spell so they have to start over.
I've seen them on storm windows in heated rooms, but they're not as detailed.
I've seen them on my single pane unheated garage windows, but not yet this year.

Good luck, & thanks for the comment!

Great idea and nicely executed.:-)

I’d have been tempted to “spot remove” the darker specks in the BG to further the illusion that these are real ice trees in a real forest.

Cheers

Dennis

Thanks. You're right, of course. I did take a few of the worst out, but also feel that, if someone steals them, they should do a little work, too? ; )
