I use Canon gear and have been using that brand for 12-years so I am pretty well versed in the use of both Canon crop and full frame cameras.
Our dog rescue group www.malteserescuecalifornia.org
received a donation of an Olympus E510 two lens kit to enable one of our volunteers in the Los Angeles area to shoot rescue portraits for posting on dog rescue sites such as www.petfinder.com
and www.adoptapet.com
.
I was tasked to set up this camera set to enable a tyro photographer to get decent images.
I just want to say that it takes a lot of research and thought to use a completely new line of cameras. I began my Canon shooting with a 10D and then graduated to a 30D followed by a 40D and have finally settled on a 7D and a 5DII as my go-to cameras.
Each generation of camera was a little different than the previous but it was an easy transition. The Olympus, while a perfectly good camera, is so different in operation that it has taken a while to set up how I want.
I use bounce flash with a 70-200mm f/4L IS lens and a 600EX RC flash on my Canon bodies. I am just beginning to get adept using the Olympus E510 along with a compatible Vivitar DF-283 Series One flash.
