This is my compulsory duck shot after getting my new 7D2 a couple weeks ago. Looks like my old 7D may get lonesome.

I am especially impressed by the focus tracking against a cluttered background. This is a 100% crop from a long distance shot. It was my first attempt at tracking BIF with this camera.

I'm also very pleased with the high ISO performance.

Thanks for all the comments. I hope that the BIF shot was more than just beginners luck.

It seems to me that the 7D2 eats batteries pretty fast compared to my old 7D. Has anybody else had the same thought? I'll admit that I have been playing around with all of the settings and doing a lot of chimping so maybe that is part of the problem. I think that a battery grip would be worthwhile accessory.

Yes, they do eat batteries a LOT faster, make sure that you turn off your GPS though, that could be the culprit, it may not come with it on though. My 1D mkIV would last me all day on just one battery, of course they're larger, but still, the 7D mkII is so fast you can almost hear the juice being sucked from it! :)
Very nice job too on your test, I stopped using my 1D mkIV due to how much I love the 7D mkII. :)

Thanks for the confirmation on battery drain. Yes, I can hear the electrons being sucked out of the battery. The thing that had me concerned is that even with everything turned off ... GPS, compass, logging, etc., the fully charged battery went from full charged to 95% charged in the last two days and the camera hasn't even been turned on. My old 7D has sat for months without losing much charge.

Mine has always done that too, it drains the juice just by sitting there.
Well, it could be worse, mine fell over a few weeks back and now it will drain overnight, so off to the shop it'll have to go. It works fine otherwise though. :)
My wife doesn't call me, "Captain Clumsy" for nothing. Actually, she doesn't call me that, but I can't say publicly what she does call me. heheheh
