It's been announced and no one seems to care. Has Fuji waited too long and delivered too little. I'm surprised they never went higher for MPX's, will 24 cut it in these days. I haven't been on line for a week or two but logged in tonight expecting lots of chatter. Tumble weed blew through the Fuji thread and I couldn't find any interest in other threads where I thought there would be a spark or two.

How did you receive the announcement? ? ? ?

First I heard of it here.

I don't think MP is a problem, fuji is finally breaking their self imposed 16MP barrier, so 24MP is actually a big leap. I don't know, maybe people like the Xt-1/10 style better?

Well, this is still primarily a Canon forum. Plenty of chatter about the XP2 on DPR and FujiX forums. But the chatter is pretty mixed between fanfare and disappointment. So pretty much like any camera announcement.

I'll get one eventually, maybe. Not in a big rush to do so now though. I'll wait for the price to drop or for refurbs/used cameras to come out.

It would be primarily a travel/take it around with you camera.

As much as I love Fuji products, I'm not giving up my DSLRs yet.

I think alot of people are going to be looking forward more to the XT-2 than the XPro-2. The optical viewfinder just isn't that huge of a deal for most people.

I prefer the XT-1 form factor and was likely never going to get an XPRO2 but may have considered it if the price was good, which its not here.

I'm interested, as I think a lot more are, in the XT-2 :)

I just read about it on Dpreview, interesting camera, even more now they have announced the 100-400 lens. But the price of the X Pro2 is a bit high, even higher here in OZ. Hope to read more about it soon.

The X-Pro seems to have become a bit of a niche camera. SLRs were generally more popular than Rangefinders.

Not surprisingly, now there's an SLR style body in the Fuji lineup it's proved more popular - the X-T also attracted a lot of new users at the time when the X-Pro was quite old tech in the line but mirrorless was gaining popularity. The upgraded X-Pro goes above the X-T for now, but only until the same technology comes to the X-T line. I think we'll see a lot more interest in the X-T2.

I just bought an X-Pro on the cheap, and it's a lovely little camera for carrying around or travelling. I don't need to upgrade it though.

I might rent one at some point. The price is a bit too much to swallow in it's current form factor though for me, I don't see myself using the OVF at all and I would really like a flip out screen... so I'll keep waiting for the X-T2 and X-E3 :)

I have mine on order along with the X70. 24MP is the sweet spot for APS-C. I read somewhere that any higher and diffraction will start to hit around f/8 or so.

Expectations were super high, so anything less is considered a disappointment. If you look at the cummulative nature of the X-Pro 2, it's a solid combination. 273 AF points, AF joystick, dual card slots, hybrid OVF/EVF, improved buttons, etc. Disappointment is with the lack of tilt screen which I use. And price but it is what it is.

You'll hear people complain that it's too expensive. Of course I wouldn't mind if it was cheaper. But if you see the behind the scenes about how Fuji's are manufactured in Japan and seemingly have the human element involved it's not surprising. You'll have people compare it on a spec sheet versus a Nikon D500 and say 'Super fail, it doesn't shoot 10FPS, OMG!' or say 'You can get a Gen 1 Sony a7 for less!'. Look at the entire picture, the lenses, the ergonomics, the useability, etc and it's different.

You'll also have people who prefer the X-T series handling and styling and those who prefer the rangefinder style. Myself personally I can't wait to get my X-Pro 2 and use it in conjunction with the smaller x70 as a walk around, secondary camera.

There's been mention on this thread of an XT2, is that jut wishful thinking or is it looking likely?

With the announcement of the 100-400, if an XT2 were to be announced with improved AF I can see my Canon gear going up for sale.

There's no announcement for it, but I think it's inevitable. The X-T1 was a full blown success, it'd be silly of Fuji not to follow it up with a mk2 at some point.

I think that, from what I have read and seen, the X-Pro2 is a good balance in performance and image quality. Only thing that gets me is Eighteenhundredfingeuros. Other than that it appears like a great camera.

Things I asked for:
Good Raw ISO at 12800, check.
Joystick for AF selection, check
More PDAF points, check[Ish] yes there are more just not much more area covered, buy hey.
Twin card slots, check
1/8000 shutter speed, check
HSS capable for flash, check

Damn it, got them all.

Just in case those in the US are concerned about the price, you can import it from Canada and get the body only for around $1,350 or so give or take the conversion, or get the body with 35 f/2 WR for around $1,600. So $100 less for the two than body only price or about $500 less than the same body and lens package in the US. Still covered under a 1 year warranty through Fujifilm North America in the US as well.

I recently handled an XT1 and found it more to my liking than an XPRO1 or XE1. I preferred the feel better as well. The joystick is a welcome addition but if it doesn't have at bare minimum a tilting screen if no swivel screen, I'll pass.
