I'm wondering if you all can reccomend some good flash books?

I jsut got a Sony HVL-F60M flash and now need to learn how to put it to it's best use.

Thank you in advance!

This is considered the standard.

Only if you are using canon speedlites. The OP is not.

Skip books. Go to the net. Neil van neikerks tangents blog, strobist.com and youtube. Maconcampus has lots of good flash tutorial videos.

So far I'm loving this book! Being very new to flash photography and not having a studio, or the desire to have a studio, this book is full of ideas for creatively utilizing light on location with minimal gear.

Start with strobist - lighting 101.

Once you have a bit of basic knowledge, Joe Mcnally's book "hotshoe diarys" is excellent
Joe is a Nikon shooter - but most of the info is rather general, and not brand specific

Definitely look at Strobist 101. But if books are your thing, then Understanding Flash Photography (external link) is pretty good too.

Light science & magic. (external link)

It isn't exactly about studio lighting but about understanding how light works and everything related to it.

I've found two of Neil van Niekerks books very helpful ... 'On Camera Flash / Off Camera Flash' . Quite a bit of the material is on his blog / website, but personally I find I still take things on board much better with a book in my hand, which I can flick back and forward through more easily than webpages. They are nice books with plenty of practical information.

I really liked "The Hot Shoe Diaries - Big Light from Small Flashes" by Joe McNally. It's not a how to - but gives you an idea how to use your flash to achieve interesting and impressive results outside the studio. There is also quite some material in his blog. Most inspiring flash book for me.

Subbed. You can find pretty much anything you need online but I do like having a good book in my hands.
