The easy one? How can you tell what version of firmware is installed? I can find no menu option or mention in the User Guide.

Second, I di a shoot with one in a softbox yesterday. I sear after 50 or 60 shots, batteries still fine, it changed exposure and dropped 2/3rd to a stop. And I was ETTL. No idea what or how this happened, but needed to readjust FEC to continue.

Any ideas?

I'm hoping maybe a firmware update fixes this. I have three YN600's but only was using on ewhen this happened.

Thanks.

~Bob

Might be because you were using ETTL. ETTL can work great or it can be very erratic. Try manual next time.

Thanks. I have used both without any issue. And this was maybe 50-60 shots before it abruptly changed so I sense something else happened.

BTW, I emailed BOTH Yong Nuo Hong Kong and EachShot (vendor) with questions on Sunday and neither have had the courtesy to reply. I will take that into consideration next time I purchase.

It is how Canon have programmed their E-TTL cameras. NEVEC, AFR, ambient/fill/main lighting. Look at your EXIF data and check against the table. see

I'm not sure where you're located but Tim Payne, the U.S. distributor for Yongnuo has about the best customer service I've ever experienced. You can contact him through his website, http://yongnuousa.net (external link) or through his learning OCF Facebook group, https://www.facebook.com …s/speedlightfundamentals/ (external link) I do know that there has been a new firmware released just recently too. The only downside for me is now I have to find someone with a PC so I can update mine.

Big problem today at a job with a YN600EXRT .

I was using it as a kicker and the YN600EXRT kept on staying on ETTL mode and won't change to M mode even if I press the mode button. I tried turning it off and tried changing it to M model but still it goes back to ETTL mode. Is there something I am missing?

I was using YN622C mounted on the YN600EXRT and another UN622C on my camera. I was shooting at Manual model.

Is there something I missed?

The flash mode in the camera menu can override the wireless settings.

Also, as I noted in the Rovelight thread, having E-TTL on in any way will make hypersync not work with the 622 + Rovelight 600 combo. If your camera body (or master speedlite/controller) is making the 622 go into E-TTL wireless mode, the timing is thrown off and hypersync with PC-cord-connected strobes will not work. What you've discovered with the YN600ex-rt I think is a clue to your other problem with not getting the Rovelight to work alongside the speedlites at HSS shutter speeds.

Off camera YN600ex-rt and Canon 600ex-rt both can't be changed from E-TTL to manual if they are wireless slaves. As soon as the camera body signals them again, they will flip right back to E-TTL if E-TTL flash mode is what is set on the master, either through the master flash/controller itself, or through the camera body's External Speedlite Control menu settings.

When you have an off-camera 600ex-rt set as a SLAVE, the master will override the mode (E-TTL, M, Multi) and the Power Level, and the Sync setting (HSS/1st/2nd) as soon as you take the next photo! Only things like zoom and custom functions will stick, nothing that the master sends values for.
