Ok I've come across the cybersync plus receivers for the alienbees to controll the power and trigger remotely and also the pocket wizard ac9 adapter for the alienbees to controll power and trigger remotely as well. My question is can one of these adapters/receivers be attached to a yongnuo yne3-rx's hot shoe and have the ability to control the power output and trigger the alienbees from a yn-e3-rt/st-e3-rt just as you would if you were using the pocket wizard system or cyber commander?

No.
All the Yongnou will do is provide the fire signal.
You will still have to use the Cyber Commander or ControlTL AC9 to change the power.
If I were still using Canon speedlites and AB lights I'd just plug a Cyber Sync trigger into the PC connection on the camera, use the Yongnou to control the speedlites and a Cyber Commander to control the ABs via the Plus receivers.

Even when the yongnuo rx unit is connected to a speed light I can control the output of the speed light from the the yn-e3-rt. So your saying even though the yne3-rx is capable of of sending power output levels it wouldn't send it to the ac9 attached to its hotshoe then via rj14 cable plunged to the back of the alienbees?

In retrospect if anyone has used the ac9 in conjunction with yongnuos yn-622 triggers with success that should mean it'll work with the rx. If anyone has tried either of these combos and/or knows if they'll work or not any input would be awesome.

Its been years since I used the ControlTL system. My recollection is that the AC9 is intended to be a camera mounted power controller for the lights.
Placing it on a receiver means that it is receiving speedlite control signals from a camera mounted controller. I doubt that it will work in that configuration. Best to ask PW.

According to pocketwizards website it says that the ac9 is to be mounted on a tt5 or tt3 receiver and triggered by a mini tt1. So basically the same as using a yongnuo configuration. Just don't know if it'll play nice with the yongnuos. Here's an image and video on the ac9 and how they connect to an Alienbees. http://youtu.be/5avYALP_j7o (external link)
