as a Prime member I decided to use it for photos, only uploaded 600 meg of videos. I have 150,000 photos there and it runs in the background.

One thing I noticed is that it doesn't grab CR3's from the 90D, but it does get the CR2's

another thing I keep forgetting to do is to turn off the sync when I download the 1000 pics I shoot in some outings where I am going to delete most of them. It backs them all up, I don't even notice it.

I keep my main backup on 3 sets of 4 TB drives, Amazon is just another way to save them.

I tested pulling a photo back down at full size and got the full CR2 back with no problems so it works.

Raw images also count as 'image files' to qualify for the free storage.

Instead of being deleted, perhaps they would just not be accepted for upload until you started paying for Prime?

Quite possibly, I've not really looked into this. I only use it a s a secondary off-site backup (jpg files only), so if I cancel it's not a huge deal for me.

What does this 'backup' service cost?...is it not simpler and less expensive ultimately to buy an 500GB SSD external harddrive for less than $70, copy your photos to it and keep it outside your home so the data is safe even in catastrophic event like total destruction to to fire or flood?

It seems the cloud is better for simply occasionally sharing some images with friend/family, or to allow you to access your photos even while travelling about the world, than to serve as a data backup due to the speed limits of downloading making 'recovery' of that data a very painful task and trial of patience.

I have 4 terabytes of info to back up, not counting video files. But I do have 6 4 TB drives and have them split into sets and rotate them. I also use Amazon prime, mainly because it is free with prime and it is a tertiary backup (as I have a set off site on external drives)
