Panasonic Lumix and RAW

Folks i have just got myself a New Lumix FZ72 Super zoom bridge camera for the amazing price of FREE, but i was wondering does Lightroom 4.4 support it for RAW edditing, and in the normal auto manner when you load your RAW files in to it?

Does that mean i can not load a RAW file from the FZ72 into LR4.4? its strange as i used to be able to work on my Nikon D7100 NEF files in my LR4.4, but the site you showed has the d7100 as being available in 5 aswell?

Sorry, I can't help beyond the link. I don't know anything about how Adobe work support. When I had a DMC-FZ8, I used a product called 'Silky', I think, to work my raw files. My memory isn't what it used to be. Or maybe it never was. I can't remember.

Just downloaded LR5.7 so i should be good to go paid for the key aswel

I have no idea about your LR question, but I am really curious how this guy performs at 1200mm. I've mean looking for a really long lens and this looks like a very economical solution if the quality is there.

If you haven't paid yet for LR 5.7, you should consider the free alternative of using the DNG Converter (any version 8.2 or higher will support the FZ72) and turning the Lumix Raw files into DNGs that are supported by LR 4.4. There is no loss of image quality.

LR 5 did not add much to LR 4; the main new features were, IIRC, the Radial Filter (which I personally use a lot) and better Heal/Clone functionality.

Yep its all loaded now and set up LR5.7 all fully working, i was lucky i got a rebate on the normal price

It will be very very intersting indeed to see how the lens from the FZ72 compares even slightly zoomed back a bit from the 1200mm say to about 800mm without cropping the pic, when compared to my 7d/250 STM and severe cropping?

Or a 7D+400mm+teleconverter​+severe cropping. There are times I need way more mm but there is no way I'm going to speng $10K+ to get it. I've also been looking into Canon's mega-zoom, the SX-60 as well as Nikon's P900 which get's you a 2000mm lens but no raw.

I like the look of the FZ72 and its lens, i like even more when its FREE i know i will have to keep the ISO down to below 800, to keep the noise at bay, but to be honest with my 7d and cropping down to 1400p - they were not all that clean either and i was having a hard time fighting the detail v noise issue with all that cropping(totally understandable)

Yep its all good stuff - i used to own a lumix fz100 optics and contrast wise it was really really good, just it was let down by noise and strange artifacts due to the older sensor design pre CMOS.

Just tried out my Lumix FZ72 oh dear the quality compared to my 7d/250 STM, i set it up used the sweet spot of the lens and shot in RAW and took about 30 different pics including my airways shots, some of the cat and other bits and pieces, i downloaded into LR5.7 but the files are just plain Horrible.

Also i assumed LR5.7 would pick up the camera/lens profile from the RAW files and add them to the lens profile section? but there is nothing there just a default ticked but no camera profile or lens data.


Im just not a hppy bunny at mo thank goodness the cam was Free, but i have serious regrets now at letting my 7d go with the 250STM.
