I know we can like posts, but can we favorite them? It'd be a useful feature if I can bookmark or favorite posts so that I can revisit them in the future - especially if I run across something useful. Following threads can be helpful, too, but not as much so when a useful tip is buried somewhere among 30 pages of replies.

For example, there's a thread on lighting setups and results. I'd like to be able to tag the posts that I want to try. There may be 10 setups I would like to go back to, so it'd be awesome if I can just collect some bookmarks or favorites. Would be useful if I could unbookmark or unfavorite, too, to keep it clean - something we can't do with Likes.

This would also help users who are looking for something that they read on the forum previously. A few days ago, someone in Glamour and Nude asked for a cardboard box concept and I responded. Another user, in a post here in Forum Talk, has a subject like, "Need help finding a post." I think lots of people would find it useful.

So that's my case for this request. I may have missed the feature if it's already here.

In lieu of such a feature, you can copy the URLs of posts ("Permalinks") and paste them into a document to keep handy on your desktop. My Mac came with a program called Stickies that works well for this.

Wanna see how many mac stickies I have? I now need a program that will sort and bookmark my stickies. :p

It'd be great to have this feature built in. Could be built into the Like feature if you can see a list of your likes and also be able to unlike. Even Facebook allows you to see what you've liked in the past. Plus, I use different computers and devices to access POTN. It's a bit cumbersome to keep separate lists.

Over at old POTN I used to subscribe to threads with interesting posts for future reference and put them into custom folders that would have titles like: "flash/strobes", "Photoshop", "MF lenses", "Printing" and you name it. I have asked Pekka to give us the possibility to create custom folders again in FOLLOWED+OWN because now my threads for future reference are lost in the multitude of threads I follow. But your suggestion is pretty nice as that would give us access to the exact post we want to keep track of.

Connecting such a feature to the LIKE button is a really bad idea in my opinion though, as it would mean that every single LIKE you give, will become a favourite and that gives you exactly nothing because how will you know where to find what you are looking for? Unless you only LIKE those posts that you want to keep for future reference and that's not how the LIKE button should be used. I'm also strongly against the ability to unlike posts. Unless it is a small window of say 10 minutes to undo a LIKE that was given accidentally (that still happens to me  ).

Right now I have permalinks stored as bookmarks in my browser, but it would be nice to have the option of keeping a list on site, preferably with the possibility to create custom folders to put them in.

I'm good with that. Keep Likes as they are (although, I've accidentally liked something, so I wish I could unlike).

Add a favorites button. Please, Pekka? I'm ambivalent about folders. They could be useful, but implementation could be more of a hassle. Allowing users to search their favorites could work.

I just have a POTN folder in my bookmarks. I open the post in a new tab via the post number link in the upper right corner of that post, and save the bookmark. I have several folders based on subject allowing me to organize it. This works not only for POTN threads, but anything on the internet. My bookmarks collection is huge, and it syncs between all my devices (computers, phones, anything that uses Chrome).

Microsoft OneNote is great. Since I've started using it, it has become my most used program. Another feature, beyond the great sorting capabilities, is syncing and sharing. Notes are common between all my devices, I can take a quick note on my phone and finish writing it on my laptop. Or reference anything I've written on my laptop on my phone. My girlfriend and I share a notebook on OneNote. There is no need to call or text after one of us runs to the grocery store. We can just put something on the shopping list and it automatically shows up on the other's phone while they are shopping (among the many other shared notes we have in that shared notebook). I've got a half dozen notebooks, with countless tabs and even more uncountable notes in those tabs. The ability to embed objects and printouts expands this tool greatly. You can install this on your Mac and your iPhone and it will all sync between them. Additionally, I think it's probably free (it is on Windows & Android), though I use the non-free version including in Office 2013.

Thanks for the suggestions, but I'm looking for something more streamlined and part of the forum than a list of links (regardless of whether they are stored on stickies or shared across OneNote).'

A place to click to within this forum where I can see a list of all my favorite posts appearing would be awesome. Favorited posts can appear just like all posts do on this forum. Even better, we could sort the post into user folders/threads.

Maybe a pipe dream, but would like to hear Pekka's thoughts on this.

Me, too. I put them in text files & they don't take up much HD space at all.

Yes, I have planned to add bookmarking as a member tool. It is useful to have bookmarks (or favorites, naming is not fixed yet), stored with the account, so you can access them with all devices and browsers.

About undo likes, the next version will have it:

Thanks, Pekka! Bookmarking posts, not threads right?

Now, where's that donation link?
