hello again :)

I need your advice on something, I am about to sell my 60D with all of my lenses because I need money to buy new lenses for my 6D (yeah the upgrade costs ...). I don't do wedding photography very often, here is my portfolio so you can see what I shoot:

https://500px.com/deviangel (external link)

Now I need ur advice should I go for Sigma Art 50mm f/1.4 or buy some combination like :

Canon 40mm f/2.8 STM or Canon 24mm f/2.8 STM + Canon 50mm f/1.8 STM/ or Canon 50mm 1.4 + some other lens?

The budget will be like 800 euros.

Thank you for your time, I am open for suggestions.

Heya,

The 24mm F2.8 STM is an EF-S lens and will not work on your 6D. An oversight maybe?

Looking at your link, from a full frame perspective, I see a lot of 85mm and 35mm situations for me.

I'd do 40mm F2.8 STM & 85mm F1.8 if you need to keep costs down (both used/refurb).

Otherwise, 35mm F2 IS & 85mm F1.8, if budget allows.

Really though, it looks like you could explore at 24-70 F2.8 VC by Tamron with your budget.

Or, if you are ok with manual, you could check out a Samyang 35mm F1.4 and Samyang 85mm F1.4 and have lots of budget left over for some AF lenses if needed.

Very best,

Yeah oversight didn't see quite well. The thing is that the Sigma Art lens is amazing lens ! Sharp as sharp it could be BUT I would limit myself only on 50mm, I would love wider angle and the 35mm version f/1.4 as it fits the budget plus If I buy it from Greece I get 23% of the money back since I am not a Greek citizen. But again I would be limited.

The pictures above are taken with my 60D most of them.

So the question is with todays software is the extra 300-400 euros worth to spend on Sigma Art or go Canon 50mm 1.4 USM (I can buy it for 250e used one)+ 2 other lenses (STM ofc)

or go Sigma Art

Very best,

FWIW, I upgraded from a 60D and a non-USM 35/2 to the 6D and a 35/2 IS...

Love it :p

I would think that for E800 you could get a good/used 28/1.8, 50/1.8 and a 85/1.8.

You have some wonderful close ups and landscape shots.

So, 24-105 STM for the landscapes and 85 f/1.8 for the closeups. 355 + 423 euros

Well, at 1017 euros, it's a budget buster for you.

I am currently looking at 85mm USM 1.8 how good is it for portrait lens?

I will need something wide too

On a 6D, the 85 f/1.8 is a great portrait lens. If you feel it's too long, then try one of the 50's - start with the 50 1.8 STM version.

Wide is a relative term. When I think of wide on the 6D or any full frame, many think of the 16-35 f/4 IS. Some folks consider 24mm as wide, others look at the very expensive 11-24 f/4. For me, wide is achieved from either my 24-105 f/4 IS on full frame or 10-18 on the (1.6 crop) SL1.

So the choice is narrowed now.

85mm f/1.8 USM or 50mm f/1.2 USM or should I get them both?

or one of these combos

85mm f/1.8 USM or 50mm f/1.8 STM

or

85mm f/1.8 USM or 40mm f/2.8 STM

Will the 50mm f/1.4 be wide enough? Because if it is I can use that one as a bit 'wider' lens. The thing is I have a party for shooting in 10 days and I have 0 lenses.

I had 50mm 1.8 II It was an ok and sharp lens so it was good in terms of wide angle I mean good enough for decent pictures but not sharp enough.

What do you guys think? I am in loove with sharp images and bokeh.

Sample of what I LOVE to shoot

I am heading to the store soon, the sooner the better please some advices, btw ty for everything until now :)

Heya,

If those are the perspectives & fields of view you like, on APS-C, I'd go 50mm & 28mm.

50mm F1.4 (or F1.8) /&/ 28mm F1.8 (or 30mm F1.4)

If full frame, then I'd look at 85mm & 35mm.

85 F1.8 or 85 F1.4 /&/ 35 F1.4 or 35 F2 IS

Very best,

Heya,

Used EF 100mm F2 USM, or EF 85mm F1.8 USM.
Used 35mm F2 (non-IS), used 35mm F2 IS, used Tamron 35mm F1.8 VC, or new Yongnuo 35mm F2.

Very best,
