My field in photography is hospitality with focus on interior and architecture pictures. I use the Elinchrom D-lite 400 IT system and it's covering my needs pretty good, but I am looking for improvements in three areas:

1. Reduce weight/size. The main reason I picked the D-lite was saving on weight and size. It's pretty good in that regard but I really would like to go smaller and lighter if possible.
2. Offer battery option. It would be great if I could shoot without having to hook up power cables in some spaces.
3. Include an adjustable built in projector so I dont' have to travel with additional reflectors (Profoto comes to mind here).

Obviously some will point me to camera flashes because they combine all those features. I considered them before buying the D-lite system but they don't pack much power. I think most are rated around 20w/s which is less than 1/16 what my D-lights produce. Is there a system that offers all of those features and maintain decent power output?

Thanks

Heya,

Speedlites would be my gut reaction. Their output is way plenty for interiors of any thing frankly. Especially a few of them. You could fit a few 7~10 foot stands, and 6~8 flashes into a carry bag and be totally portable, totally wireless, with remote power control and the zoom heads (also remote controllable) let you control direction & spill a bit. Their output isn't a limit, because you have a camera capable of clean higher ISO, which looks just as good as ISO 100 when viewed at media size (web, magazine, etc). So unless you're printing at 30"x20" and viewing at 3 feet away, it should be totally fine. But that's just my gut reaction again.

Very best,

Given that stands and modifiers make up so much of a kit I'm naturally skeptical about any plan to reduce the size of a kit, in for a penny, in for a pound. But these might be what you are looking for. http://www.amazon.com …=8-3&keywords=godox+ad360 (external link)

Thanks for sharing, that's a very interesting system. At 360w/s the power out put is pretty much the same (only 1/3 stop lower). The weigh of the flash+battery is 780g (excluding tube and reflector), which is about half the weight of the D-lite 400 1.5kg. It's missing one thing though, the ability to adjust the built in reflector.
