This is the only time I can afford to buy at the local camera store. They are very nice people. They let us hold gallery shows in their spare room. We hold our photography club meetings there.

But it's very hard to pull an extra $150 to $300 out of my pocket just because I like them.

When a model like the 30D comes out, nobody is giving a discount, so the only extra is tax vs. shipping. I can live with that.

I realize they are at a premium at launch I am more concerned with when.
I have mixed feelings about the local camera store. I do buy lenses I want to look through and get a feel for locally and pay a premium to do it.

I was at shopping for a 20D/D200 camera this week and the owner told me he is getting his in sometime between the 14-16 next week so I should wait and take a look at it. I was there ready to spend money so I don't think he was pulling my chain. This is in Canada mind you but we get stuff at the same time.

hey come tax time you have to pay out of state purchase taxes (in NJ anyway), so keep your records up to date... ;) ;)
