This pic is eventually (possibly) going to be submitted to a Stock Photography agency.

What do you think of the edit? I kept it simple for the agency (That's what they usually prefer)

I just edited it in Adobe Camera Raw, then I removed spots, used a highpass filter to sharpen it, reduced noise in LR, and cropped it from the top and bottom.

My questions...
Do you like it?
What would you change?
If you were there how would you change the shot? (I have plenty of other shots so I may have taken one how you would have... if you recommend it and I have it I'll upload to see if you like it better)
Is it sharp enough? (i'm a little worried about the sharpness... may have to chuck the photo?)
How is the noise reduction?

Thank you for your time and opinions!
Seth

P.S. If you wish to take the photo and edit it for me to see no problem feel free.

(Prob don't need to clarify, but it won't hurt)
I'm not giving anybody this photo, so only editing for me to see not for yourself!

When you post a picture and you allow people to edit it to show you what they think should be done what do you say?

Thanks!

Why would someone buy this particular image from a stock source? Is it a famous bridge? Highlights seem blown out.

The Histogram doesn't show them blown out...

It's not famous but well know in the city... Not sure if you do stock, but the weirdest things sell, pretty much you submit all your photos if they're accepted than great and if anybody want's to buy them better. If nobody does no big problem.

Thanks,
Seth

No, I don't sell stock but I'm aware how it works. As I suspected, this is one of 500 (that's the kind of number they seem to want).

I buy a lot of stock as a designer. It's all too cheap. I personally can't see buying this, but like I asked, maybe it has value beyond being another non-descript bridge. Good luck in your sales.

To my eye, the sky and the water look too similar in color and tone. You'd think they should match because one reflects the other, but somehow having them that close is eerie. I'd lighten the sky a little.

When you post a picture and you allow people to edit it to show you what they think should be done what do you say?

If you don't mind having this done for any photo you post, you can put "Image editing OK" or an equivalent statement in your signature. If you do mind, and you want to give permission for editing only selected photos, you have to say editing is OK in each post where you welcome editing.

Im more interested in you choice of settings. Is that data correct? 1/6th f22? Seems like overkill fstop and a shutter speed that is on the slow side.

Yes it's correct...

What would you have done for f stop?

I set it for f22 wanted low ISO so had it at lowest... 50 iso and as a result got 1/6 sec (I didn't mind water blur so I kept it)

What would you have done?

Thanks
Seth

Yeah good thought for your iso to be low on a sunny day but you don't need f22. I would have gone like f8 or f11 maybe? Lenses are usually sharpest at f8 and that wpuld have brought your shutter up a good bit. (Im
going to assume you weren't using a tripod) I dont know what focal length you were at but a rule of thumb for hand holding slow shutter speeds is to double your focal lenght so lets say you were at 50mm you should have been more at 1/100th.

Actually I was using a tripod... (I use one as often as I can)

Thanks I'll try the lower f stop next time!

I know that rule, but thanks for sharing!

I've only done the stock image thing a few times, but I recall having an image rejected because there was an identifiable building/landmark in the image and I didn't have a release. I'd say that church is easily identifiable. Am I remembering the rules/criteria incorrectly?

Yes if it's for personal use... If you put it up for like news then it's fine. I forget the actual terminology...

Pretty much if you want to sell it to a person for prints, calendars, books etc. I may not be able to use it. However if it's not the main focus and you can't see too much of it than it may be fine.

But if a newspaper, magazine, or something of the sort wants to use it they could.

Thanks,
Seth
