the tamron was ok IQ wise, but at 600, the drop in IQ was noticeable and had to be shot at F8 for good results. The sigma looks a tad inferior, however the dock is a plus. I'de buy either a new tamron or second hand sigma for warranty purposes. The sigma was on sale during the holidays for $700, that makes it a very good deal. The newer tamrons can do panning(updated firmware), where all the sigmas can do panning without having to worry about which version to buy.

I purchased the Tamron because it was the only 150-600 available for over a year. I did get the firmware that addresses the VC while panning issues, which would not be necessary for any copy produced in the past year or so. If I were buying now I would probably consider the Sigma C, because I have the Sigma Dock for my 30mm 1.4. However, my Tamron does everything I need it to do, and I have no complaints. Plus, in the US at least, nobody beats the Tamron warranty.

The Tamron is very nice. Haven't tried the Sigma, but I have no complaints about the IQ of the Tamron. Not terribly fast focusing but I didn't expect it to be for the focal length and price.

What a Bonus that Sigma is updating the lens FW in March for even faster AF. The sigma dock is worth having, even if you have to search to borrow/rent one for a day.

Oops, wrong thread, sorry.

Why? The thread is about these two lenses, and you discussed one of them.

No, I edited my post from what it originally was, which was a reply to another thread.
