I'd been using only Canon cameras ever since my first digital, the G1, back in 2001, but since I bought a Panasonic Lumix FZ1000 a few months ago I find I'm using it more and more while my Canon cameras gather dust.

My Canon 60D was my "top" camera until I got the FZ1000, and a G15 for light vacation travel, while an SX50 was my "carry around" for daily use mainly because of the really good 1200mm optical zoom that is so handy for birding. But the features and handling of the FZ1000, now I'm used to it, are such a vast improvement over the Canons that I find myself using it for almost every situation.

I am with you on this situation - i have sold my 7d/250 STM combo and at the same time was given Free a Lumix FZ72, but after a few days shooting with the FZ72 i have decided to get myself the rather nice Lumix FZ300/330, the lens Leica @600mm and the superb AF in it, along with the half decent sensor have sold it to me.
It should be ideal for my uses and rather more realistic cropping a small amount if i need to, rather than the giant ones i was having to do with my excellent but tiny 250 STM zoom:-)

I used Canon film cameras for years then kind of got away from photography. I then got started in digital, bought a LX-5 Panasonic and was amazed at what quality you could get out of a small camera. So my thinking at the time was "Imagine what kind of quality you could get with a larger camera"?. I bought several Canon lens and bodies and was not happy with the results, so bought a Panasonic G1 and the 14-45 lens. Blown away at how good they are. The lens are sharp and focus in an instant. I now own several Panasonic bodies and lens, nice stuff. I keep the Canons stuff as I don't want to take the loss.

Panasonic seem to have this gift at the moment of putting all the right things into their cameras that reward the buyers, and are not on a branding war just by name.

My first ever Panasonic was a rather good music center;-)a:-):-):-)
