Now under less light, and especially artificial lighting at higher ISOs (this was very low light as evidenced by the EXIF and the cat's eyes), I lose alot of detail. Here is 12800 right from the raw through DPP, then a 100% crop top, and post processed bottom. 12800 is an "acquired taste", perhaps. If I had a 1DX, this would obviously be much cleaner, and I would love to try out a 1DX2, but with the huge restructuring of NS, all our plans for large purchases are on hold.

Yeah the 7D2 (just like my 7D was) is a light hungry sensor. Exposure is everything I did some tests last year and compared it to ny 5D3. Overcast day, same exposures and the 5D3 files were much cleaner and edged out the 7D2 in detail.
