Mark,

We've been discussing that link for several days now! ;-)a

Of course, you're just trying to bring info to everyone on the Canon 1D X Mark II (which is great), whereas others continually try to compare the 1DX2 against a camera that does not even exist. At least you're bringing real information to the table whereas some others can only bring wishful thinking that has no bearing on the subject at hand.

Cheers,
Bryan

Quite honestly on that note, this thread has run its course. The camera has been announced, and specs identified. Now that the camera is about to be released, what will happen is that this thread will go silent, and the new "Post your 1DX2 Images" thread will get traffic, along with the numerous comparison/question threads. There isn't much else to discuss on this thread at this point, if you really want to stick to the title at hand.

It would be nice to discuss shipping notices. Also shipping notices that coincide with the date of your pre-order so that others can determine where they are in the waiting line. And of course, a post that it arrived and maybe a product pic would be great too. That would be a nice way to wind down this thread, especially after spending so much time together over the last few months. :-)

Cheers,
Bryan

I can see that, but in the lull periods, there were always off-topic things discussed, that had nothing to do with the announced specs of the 1DX2. People just need to fill the time until the next major event. :) The 1DX2 news is so yesterday now! (j/k, before people get their knickers in a knot)

People that have seen both are saying its got a stop on the 1Dx2. Doesnt matter to me. 250000 is just unbelievable to me especially with the 1Dx2 AF system......how much more at that point is anyone guess......I think on paper the D5 is the better camera

still would not get anyone seriously invested to make a change over 1/2-1 stop iso

it is definitely not 1 full stop - at least in the zone of 25,600 ISO - 51,200 ISO
i've looked pretty hard at the files, and played with the respective editing, and the 25,600 1Dx II file is cleaner than the Nikon D5 51,200 file - 1/2 a stop seems right

there is also a DXO DR chart that floated a while ago, and at high ISO, the D5 is 1/2 stop better in DR, with the 1Dx having a full stop advantage at base ISO

i personally think the 5D4 is going to be the better camera for most
- lighter, smaller, wifi, maybe bluetooth?, more megapixels, more touch screen, basic 4k

that said, my 1Dx II arrives on the 28th in Toronto

Hockey and wedding photographer. Favourite camera / lens combos: a 1DX II with a Tamron 45 1.8 VC, an A7Rii with a Canon 24-70F2.8L II, and a 5DSR with a Tamron 85 1.8 VC. Every lens I own I strongly recommend [Canon (35Lii, 100L Macro, 24-70F2.8ii, 70-200F2.8ii, 100-400Lii), Tamron (45 1.8, 85 1.8), Sigma 24-105]. If there are better lenses out there let me know because I haven't found them.

Thursday should make for a quiet day on the forums as people play with their cameras, but Friday, watch out!

Andy Rouse shared Canon Hong Kong's video about the camera this morning. Good for a quick watch.

I had left over spaghetti for lunch today. It was a nice change from cold sandwiches.

Hey gang, check out Post #7 in this thread over on FM. I love how it looks like you can really pull up the shadows without introducing objectionable noise. This is something us Canon users have needed for a long time!

I can't wait to get this camera!

I know what you mean -- I'm a RAW-only guy. What did you think about the shadow detail that was pulled up behind the leaves in Post #7? I thought it looked great!

Cheers,
Bryan

Yeah the pansy shots. Well pulling shadows in jpgs is an art in itself since it's already been 'processed', but eye-balling it, it looks like
he pulled at least 3 stops if not 4 and that's a great thing...if it is 3 stops or more all the better and more convincing to me that either Canon has
taken their time to retro engineer and/or are partnering with Sony. Better yet is the fact those pansy shadows could have been negated
with an ISO 1600-2000 eh and no noise to speak of.
Well that's my limited understanding, and hope living in a shadow.
