Thanks for this. 12800 ISO looks like 3200 on my 5D3..... I see a full 2 stops ISO improvement over the 5D3. At least 2 stops. 25000 ISO is very usable. Most of these were at F/5.6 at those higher ISO's...F/4 glass will be the new King......Fast Glass will be heaven.....m awesome. Just awesome. Cant wait to get this

Well honestly up to this point it was just another camera and I'm sure most on this thread have had
a few over the years--my F2 Photomic sits on the deck in front of me as I type,
but I've gone through all the samples. This sensor if all is as purported is A7Rii
and/or a7Si/ii level. Hard to believe that Canon has done this.
Yeah I get it the A7Rii has a much larger sensor but the A7S series is 12'ish mp's.
Well I'm finally excited about it Canon is finally ISOLESS.

I think they are going to be released on May 1st as well, since you can't do much with the LP-E19 batteries or the WFT-E8A adapter without the camera.

Just had an update from Calumet and now not expected till Friday or later aswell,also have been informed they have 112 on order across the UK.

May 1st is a Sunday eh?
But at least the UK supplier ~Calumet~ is forthcoming with info as in tot. number ordered in country.
Out main suppliers (B/H,Adorama) consider such info as super secret need to know only.....

The 1DxII is not "ISOLESS". It has 9.1x as much read noise at ISO 100 vs ISO 51200, relative to a small signal. It is just less problematic with low-ISO "underexposure".

I've never understood the reason for the term "ISOLESS". Is any camera ISOLESS? I get that better sensors allow deliberate underexposing (to shoot at lower ISO while using faster shutter), but I don't know why the term ISOLESS is applied to that.

that was 2011 when usable 3200 was a dream come true

were talking 25000 ISO for 2016-----thats a 3 stop usable performance in 5 years. Actually glad you found that. Just shows how far we have some since the games really started to change with the original 1Dx1 and 5D3 updates and Sony/nikon sensors were introduced. 3 short years later and look what they did.

Canon is in the game and for that I am a very happy camper. Nikon is still king of the hill for ISO performance but Canon is very very close. There is nothing about this 1Dx update that I dont like.

1Dx2 and the D5 are best cameras on the market right now- Unless you want to shot medium format. People should be stoked. This update s a gift for professionals.

Funny how we all loved the 1DMK3. It was such a great body at the time. Those smaller files still looks great. Kind of like the 5D classic....something about those darn files. But this 1Dx2 blows everything in canons previous line up out of the water...No Doubt about that

The only kind of camera I would call ISO-less is one that has only one gain, and RAW digitization, and no ISO settings; just a RAW histogram. Manual exposure, only, as a floating parameter would require a target ISO exposure index.

I guess the Germans got a real head-start this time! From what I've heard, the Australians should start getting their 1DX2s about 9 hours from now.

By the sounds of the noises coming out of the Nikon camp, I think many Nikon users would rank the new D500 ahead of the D5 and maybe even the 810 as well.

My top 5 would be

Sony A7Rii (best portraits)
1DX II (best sports)
D810 (Best combo)
D500 (Best Crop)
5DSR (best studio)

I dunno. I was hoping for an upgrade commensurate with the camera updates...

Reading that as well. My buddy got the D500

ISO performance is unbelievable for a crop sensor. Just Amazing

Just got mine delivered. Probably among the first few in India. Though I didn't get much time to test it tonight, I did fire few quick fire shots (of what I could find baring angry wife and screaming kid).

I do see myself using up to 25600 pretty frequently now. 51200 seems decent and usable after a bit of processing. I didn't test beyond that as of now. Tomorrow may be.

12800 / 25600 / 51200 jpgs (with default RAW -> JPG conversion. I guess noise reduction at 14 points). RAW files uploaded as well.
