There really isn't too much deep black in that scene unfortunately. Printed material with plastic wrapped around them probably aren't the best test cases?

Anyways here is ISO 3200 comparison to the ISO 100 pulled 5 stops. The 7D2, for an APS-C, does very well, substantially better than the 7D, and I think even a bit better than the 5D3. But you can definitely see the color casting in the pushed ISO 100, and the color differences. Faster shutter speeds really help, lol.

I think your math if off here. The push is about 1.5 stops pushed more than the 3200 ISO exposure. (3200 was 4 stops over ISO 200, but then you gave back almost a stop going from 1/25 to 1/15 sec.)

The light level was different when I went back to do the 3200, so the 3200 might not be all that good a comparison. Also, I guess I should have shot 6400 for the comparison, I forgot I had shot the first at 200, so 3200 isn't valid at all. I removed my other comparison until I can get a 6400.

i never said it was factual i said IMO .

If you take a look at my earlier posts on page 31, specifically my post #455 as well as several others, you will see that I was reading and responding to posts via my cell phone and completely missed the IMO, presumably a result of reading and responding quickly on a small screen. My error was pointed out to me by Teamspeed and a couple of others. I immediately acknowledged my mistake and even responded to your post with an apology in #455 which said "My apologies. I completely missed the IMO. A bit brain dead today, I guess." Perhaps you missed it. I finally hope this issue is resolved since there have been around a dozen posts surrounding it at this point. It was a simple reading mistake on my part.

Canon did use a Sony sensor in the 1DXII, this is why they decided to go all hush hush on the sensor and pull back any notes about ADC on-chip... That explains this completely!

I told ya guys it was a game changer. The guys that I know that shot with it told me this. I trust them 100%. Glad DPR put of the goods. Wait till you can see what its going to do in real world shooting conditions.

This is a camera that I can buy and use for the next 6-8 yrs.....Next step for these sensors will be duplicating what the human eye can see in dark conditions. From what I can read and understand ( Im not a techie guy so a lot of this stuff is greek ) I think canon is on the right track with their technology improvements.

Other than weight, I honestly see no need to consider mirrorless with this release. Some minor advantages but these Mfgs will never be able to match the lens line up that canon and Nikons have and more importantly what canon brings to the table with CPS services.

I am so fricken excited about this release. I was so close to jumping to the D5. So Close. I tried a Sony for about 45 minutes and handed it back . No Thanks. If Canon did not fix the sensors like they have done, i was going to switch. But not now. Canons back in the game and Im getting a camera that I will be able to use for 6-8 yrs....maybe longer....I think its a great investment for us.

CPS is only for pro users though? what about hobbiest canon shooters?

In the UK at least you can get CPS membership as a non-pro (you just need sufficient gear to qualify).

You have to register serial numbers here. No web site needed.

Yep. It is worth it though (doesn't cost anything) and you get priority turnaround on fixes, plus access to their "Pro Service AF". I had a 5D3 serviced with a temperamental 70-200II (the lens needing some tweaks that weren't possible by a user). The shipping cost with insurance was about as much as the service! The lens has been flawless ever since though, so it was worth it.

Say there is 5 stops difference in DR and it's confirmed by multiple independent sources, I bet DXO Mark will still find a way to rate the Barbie Camera from Digitalrev with better DR than the 1DX II

Although the 1DX body wouldn't be something I would buy, this makes me very excited for the 5DIV and 6DII!

You dont have to be a PRO to be a member of CPS. I have been a cps member since 2008. I think a gold membership is $199 pr yr and it pays for 2 free cleanings and services for your cameras. Plus you get a auto 20% discount for any repairs you may need for the year. So its a maintenance policy more than it is a policy for PRO's. We are going to switch our policy to a platinum policy this year. It had advantages for people with more equipment and one of the 5D3's that we are going to keep has higher counts and is older. So we want the additional discounts in case it needs a repair, we got more free cleanings, and a platinum pays both ways for shipping. So with 3 camera and 9 canon lens that get a lot of use...its a no brainer for our needs

Best thing about CPS...its expedited for everyone. I send camera into CPS on Monday and I have them back to my home by Friday. Guaranteed for routine service. Its been this way for about 6 yrs now
