Search doesnt work for me

Im typing in Canon 10-18 vs 10-22 and i keep getting no results found am i doing something wrong thank you

I have had that problem as well. The search window keeps old search criteria until you clear it. There is a button on the bottom that says new search. Do that and you will likely be good.

Ive done that but no joy its a bit silly really why cant there be a normal search bar like all other forums

Seems to be only 1 thread I can find. Try searching 10-18 10-22.

If you Google that search there seems to be a lot of info out there.

You get no results as there is no thread with all those keywords.

► Search is always in exact keyword mode
► To search exact phrases, place the keywords in quotes: "keyword keyword2"
► Use the wildcard * in the end of a keyword if needed.

To get threads with 10-22, 10-18, 10-anything and also "vs" use

10-* vs

or as nqjudo said

10-18 10-22

All the keywords in TITLE box must be found in the thread title. If you want more results, like Google does, use simpler keywords and wildcards.

it gives all the results where you have
10-22 or 10-18 or 'vs

If you want to find exactly
10-18 vs 10-22 in Google, it is done as
"10-18 vs 10-22" site:photography-on-the.net
and you get no full match results, just like here.

If you search in POTN for TEXT
10-18 vs 10-22
you get 12 posts with words "10-18" AND "vs" AND "10-22"

What is a "normal search"?

The search is tuned for the forum contents, images and metadata.

Google can not easily find e.g.
"posts where you have images taken with Canon EOS 5D Mark III using ISO 6400 in forum Lens Sample Photo Archive"

You can use our search just as a simple keyword search of course and ignore all its extra power, but as noted above it is an "AND" keyword search tool, not "OR" as Google.
