Sorry, I had to do this, I just couldn't resist owning my thread like this

Better ISO range, the MKii is nothing compared to the D5's how many, I've forgotten
Wider spread of AF points and more than the 61 AF points in the MKii, even at f/8

LOL....

I literally laughed when I saw IDx III and "what would you like to see."

Clearly the 1DX II is a disappointment already!

I want to see the 1DX III released in any form, so that a 1DX I, by that time, is affordable.

Very best,

I would like to see full resolution RAW video - or better worded, I would say "shooting stills so fast it can be used as video". Basically I mean shooting full resolution RAW images at a minimum 30fps with an unlimited buffer. This would give you video that you could pull stills from - RAW stills at the full resolution of the sensor. If someone wants to shoot video and then pull a still from it and print it at a nice big 60" by 40" size, they should be able to do so without having any limitations on the image quality of the final print.

I think that they are on the right track towards this with the faster frame rate and much bigger buffer of this new 1Dx2, but there is still a long way to go before we'll be able to shoot full res RAW images so fast that they can be used as video. And yes, when they finally do what I am asking for, then I will want them to upgrade to 60fps or 100fps - there will always be more that could be done to enable us to create more content.

There is actually no way that can happen, at least not according to POTN policy. I just re-read ALL of the POTN rules again (I do so quite regularly), and see no way in which this thread violates any of the stated rules. And if it does not specifically violate any rule, then you are guaranteed that it will not be removed, so long as the rules themselves are followed precisely by everyone involved here. Screenshot from the official rules page:

So, this thread is, of course, safe! I know that you were joking about this, due to the "lol" after your statement, but this is a serious issue, and I wanted to make sure that no one is confused as to the official policy here.

.

"Your" and "you're" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"They're", "their", and "there" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"Fare" and "fair" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one. The proper expression is "moot point", NOT "mute point".

Maybe somebody can figure out how to insert a teeny tiny little 1DXIII into the optic nerve so we needn't be burdened by carrying all that gear. It would have to have onboard WiFi though. :-P

Meh, no way, I don't want tech inserted into my body, unless it was there to help me tick

50mp, it's only a matter of time before wildlife shooters demand it.

Canon can implement it like so:

Full Raw, 50mp, 7-8 fps raw buffer of 60.

Medium Raw 20mp, 14 fps raw buffer of 170

Small Raw 12mp, 14 fps unlimited raw buffer

1.6x crop mode 20mp, 14 fps raw buffer of 170

1.6x crop mode small 12mp, 14 fps unlimited raw buffer

The 5Dsr seems much more appealing than the 1Dx for all shooting scenarios IMO. 5fps is certainly good, and 50mp is much better than 20mp.

8K video would be another alternative, however that also commands a high resolution sensor.

The 1DXIII will incorporate a "transformer-like" construction where the sensor is mounted into a mirror-less body, which is then mounted into a 1D body for DSLR activities. This way consumers glean the benefit of a DSLR with class-leading AF, construction, build, and performance, and for those times the owner would like to travel lightly, they can detach the sensor mirrorless system inside providing them a lightweight travel kit, that can still accept EF lenses, while providing the same DR and high ISO capabilities of the full DSLR system.
