Camera advice needed please!

I'm trying to develop an application where someone can sit in front of a PC, click a button and a camera mounted on top of the monitor captures a still pic and displays it immediately. The obvious choice is a Webcam but the resolution is terrible.

Does anyone have any suggestion as to what camera would allow this direct communication?

The A70/A60 come with this.

It's called Remote Capture (or something similar).

I've used it when I first got the camera, and what happens is you connect the camera via the USB cable, and you then can control the camera zoom, settings. You can see the image on the computer screen as you move the camera.

You can set up various options (like save to computer memory instead of camera)

And finally, there is a button on screen for release.

I think you can set it up for various things like time lapse (one shot every minute or so) but I might be wrong.

Now, I don't know if by display you mean on the web or not, but if the camera saved to the computer, you might be able have a script keep looking for new files and then upload this to your web server.
