Not too sure what these are called your way but the purple car was call an Escort here in Australia.
And I think even back then they looked like a nice car.
And all these years later they still are a good looking car.
Thanks for showing us these from the past.

I am willing to learn and will listen to what other have to say.
But if I don't like it, never take offense to it.
It is just something that I may not like.

The top photo is a Peugeot 205 and #19 is a MK1 Escort and they aren't all that old. Both cars perhaps today racing in the booming "classic" division

Definitely not hot rods, they are generally American cars deigned for linear speed.

Both of these are better known as rally cars, or historic rally cars nowadays I guess.

These definietly are hot rods a form of motorsport I have been following for 40 years. In the UK hot rods race on 1/4 mile ovals as in Ireland and Europe & South Africa
Hot Rod is a much used phrase round the world and I know in America it has a very different meaning but these are definetly hot rods, UK, Irish, European South African style

Just about every Australian wears thongs but we wear them on our feet. We have car boots, bonnets and footpaths, not hoods, trunks or sidewalks.
You have plimsolls, anoracks and chippies.

A simple google search also shows what Hot Rod racing is in the UK.

Love that first Pug shot, they're well known for lifting a rear wheel, different to see a front almost lifting.
