Hi guys,

do any of you know if there's anything I can buy (besides another STE3RT transmitter or 600 RT flash) that I can use to trigger the shutter on my 1Dx with a STE3RT transmitter mounted on it? The method with using the flash as slave works great but its not convenient as the flash is big and heavy. Does the STE3 transmitter work with anything else out there?

Yes the yne3-Rx can act as a remote shutter release. I done it a few times and works great.

^^^ Wish I saw your post earlier. Already got Yongnuo YN-E3-RT but I can't figure out for the life of me how to set it up to achieve shutter release. I can do it with 600 EX. Do you by chance have any suggestions or perhaps can link me to a tutorial? I searched, nothing comes up for CANON ST-E3-RT and its Yongnuo equivalent.

Actually yes as I have the yn-e3-rt as well. What I do is just plug in the mini usb to 1/8th jack that came with the yn-e3-rt into the USB port on the e3-rt then plug the 1/8th side into the camera. And use the e3-rx to wirelessly trigger the shutter.

Thats the thing for me, I don't want to use wires on top of the transmitters. So now I have one st-e3-rt on the hotshoe as slave and a second one as master where it gives you the "REL" option to trip the shutter. Works fine with brackets but no mirror lock up
