I have two 5D classics.

I have them because I adore the look of the files, they are still working and serve my needs for what I use them for, and were inexpensive ($350 and under), yet still produce great large prints.

Very best,

because it still has great image quality, most of my portraits are taken by 5Dc and people love it. 5DmkIII has great AF and liveview, very useful for exposure simulation (especially with ND filters), but IQ is very similar.

I don't any more! But I do, sometimes, regret selling mine.
As, I am sure MalVeaux would agree, there is a quality to the files that just makes things look nicer! When I had my, much loved, 1D4 I wouldn't even think about using it for landscapes when I had the 5D available. It is only since I moved to the 1DX that I can equal/exceed the images for my landscape work. No I didn't but the 1DX for landscapes!
The bottom line is that whilst the 5D is rather "Old Hat" these days it can still challenge the best for certain types of photography and can still produce some of the most pleasing images going- film or digital.
Just my 2p.

I agree - the 5D produced wonderful flies - but I don't know why! More modern cameras have far more pixels, far greater colour depth, better DR etc. etc. So why do the "Old" 5D flies look so good?
Of course you can easily beat it these days but you will be spending a LOT of money to do it!
For anyone on a limited budget I would suggest the best glass you can afford and stick a 5D on the back - hard (and expensive) to beat IMO.

I wouldnt mind owning one again, reason, nice small high quality files, however these days, if I wanted small files, I might get the A7s instead for the autoiso feature. Really bothered me going back to manual iso...

A relevant experience. I have been shooting two relatively new bodies for a while: 6D & 70D. I sold my 5Dc about 2 years ago, and have always mostly regretted that move. Recently, on a whim, I picked up a 1D and 1DII. The 1D is 15 years old, and still turns in amazing work. I have printed 8x10 photos that are indistinguishable from the 6D. Someone please remind me, why do we need 20+MP?

I owned one and sold it about 3 years ago. Regret set in, and finally I picked one up, then a second. Like others, the files are beautiful. It's a basic body which produces. It's a good thing :-)

I still have it because its monetary value is now so low that it is not worth taking the time to sell it.
Plus, it still yields images that are as good as it yielded when it was new.

"Fare" and "fair" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one. The proper expression is "moot point", NOT "mute point".

Bought one 3 months ago, love it. the pictures it produces are just stunning, especially skin colour tones. For the price you cant go wrong.
My 70d sits in the cupboard most of the time now. May sell it and get a 6D, but i will still keep the 5D with the focusing screen for manual lenses.

I bought one of the last 5Dc I could find on the web in Canada when the 5D2 was announced.
I love the pictures it produces.

I also bought a new 7D when the 7D2 was announced.
Works awesome as a companion to the 5Dc

I really liked the 5D when I had a couple as well. However, between the old LCD display and outdated menu system and the ability to use it up below 3200, where above this, any other modern camera, including APS-C, can do better, the newer bodies just do better overall with ISO handling and resolution.

Try running a 5D and 6D next to each other with the same settings on the same subject, then resize the 6D down to the 5D image resolution. Do they really look differently?

I think a real key to the continued use of the 5D is simply that so many folks never make prints larger than about 8x12 (in fact, 'never make prints' period), and the 5D provides 364 pixel/inch of print at that size. Higher pixel density only really matters to those making 'giant' prints, and even the massive pixel files of the 5DS still only achieves the same 362 pixel/inch on print with a 16"x24" print, which is hardly a massive print!

While it is nice to have improvements to AF speed and accuracy, and improvements to DR and low noise at high ISO in low light, photography has been successful for many decades even with the very limited DR of color transparency and ISO speeds of film at ISO 400. So above a certain baseline, it is 'cream' and not essential features/specifications. Wonderful to have more, not have to have more.
