Here is a few of my landscapes I have done this year, but I am asking for input as which two I would choose for a competition. There are no specifics in terms of rules. If you have the time, please leave a comment as to why you chose that - keep on learning ;-)a
If you are short of time, simply comment on your favourite.

Thanks everyone

voted for #3 as it seems to have more "originality" than the others, #5 would be my next best favourite closely followed by #1. all are technically great though!

some fairly old canon camera stuff, canon lenses, Manfrotto "thingy", and an M5, also an M6 that has had a 720nm filter bolted onto the sensor:

While I like them all, I think 1, 3, 4, and 5 are on another level. It is hard to choose without context. This is just a 'Best Landscape' contest? I would look at previous competition winners and see if there is a trend in what the judges like to see. I would agree with most that #3 is my favorite, but there are a few areas that appear darker in the foreground snow that I wouldn't expect to be. I like #4 due to its soft nature and the feeling of time passing. My vote in descending order: 3, 4, 5, 1.

Yeah 4 or 5. The dull b/w shot does nothing for me at all compared to colorful energy of the others.

Voted 1 and 7. I think you've posted that shot of Niagara before, and I really liked it then, and I really like it now. I really like the colors in the mist, and I think you nailed the shutter speed to keep fine detail in the water while still implying its motion. It's well-framed, and just overall a very pleasing shot. I also like #1 because I didn't even recognize it as Yosemite at first- the fog adds a totally different dimension, and the detail and colors in the rocks and trees are outstanding. They're certainly all very well done, but these were the two that really stood out to me.

#3 - Most emotion and most visual depth. More than the others, this image pulls into the frame.

Next choice is the Falls, which I had previously commented on the original post. That is am amazing shot and offers a unique and original take on something most people pass-over.

The others, in my opinion, are over-baked. Beautiful, for sure, but too much sugar for my tastes. But I've never won a photo competition.

Good luck!

3 and 1 are my favourites, in that order.

I love the depth in 3, and that is why it tops my list.

Your Milky Way photo is very nice. Was it hard to get?

I personally like #3 and #2, but considering its for a competition, I think more would lean toward color, so #2 wins for me.

thanks
Not too hard
it is comprised of multiple exposures
I took a high ISO 30s exposure of the sky
I then took a series of lower ISO photos of the rock light painting with a torch

All were blended and processed in PS

cheers, Paul

#1 wouldn't load for me so I voted for #3, but now that I see your final edit of the valley I like it the best.
