Here's my M45 shot at 400mm F5.6 with my Canon 7D.
62 pictures of 67 sec at ISO 640 : total time 1 hour and 9 minutes
Stack with DSS and photoshop.

I've just 1H because clouds became this night ! I'll try another night to add 1 or 2 hours plus to have finally a 3 hours pictures to more see Pleiades clouds.

Nice work. How do you find the 70-200 and 2x combo?

Thanks Kags 1969 !

The ext x2 is the version II. At f5.6 you can take sharp picture, but you need light ! Either, i take several picture at f7.1 - f8 and it's very acceptable ! (i paid under 200$ for the EXTx2 II) !
In wildlife, the AF is very slow, you can't follow the fast animals like birds. You can only manually follow but it's very hard !

In astro, i think at F5.6, the result is nice, some of stars are not round, but it came about a bad starfollow ! And with my skywatcher, the Ext x2 II is sharper than the original barlow x2 !

i will post a moon picture when clouds go away !

Do you have the Skywatcher Star Adventurer? That is what I am using and like it alot, although I am using it mostly for wide field astro.

I am taking a 4 day Astrophotography class from Jason Weingart (http://www.jasonrweingart.com/astrophotographyworkshop (external link)) in April and wanted to start getting my feet wet. The class is in a very dark part of Texas called Big Bend National Park.

I really want to do some time lapse work but need to figure out exposure ramping to start at dusk and see the star field build as it gets dark.

Here is a wide field that I took using the Star Adventurer. I was working more on technical aspects of capturing the image then artistic framing.
