This is a fun idea for a thread, I figured I'd leave some explanations for why I made the changes as well :)

-Various film SLR's of my fathers when I was an adolescent and teenager (my dad always developed the shots though because he did them at his studio which was an hour from home)
-Canon 20D (it got stolen)
-Nikon P300 (I thought it could replace my DSLR since I wasn't that into photography at the time, I still own this camera)
-Canon Rebel T2i (This camera made me fall in love with photography and really start taking it more seriously)
-Canon EOS 6D (This just took things even further)
-Canon EOS M (I wanted something more portable and my P300 wasn't cutting it, this camera made me see the advantages of mirrorless)
-Fuji X-E1 (This was a game changer for me)
-Sony a7R (I bought this camera mostly as an alternate to renting, since I knew a week wouldn't be enough time for me to know if I liked it enough, so I bought it used)
-Sony a7S (Sold the a7R for pretty much zero loss after a month and got the a7S, loved it enough to not regret selling the a7R, the 6D or the X-E1... or so I thought)
-Fuji X-E2 (I sold the X-E1 after getting the a7S and missed it soon after... there's just something about those Fuji's)

I'm pretty happy where I'm at right now... though I have to admit that the new X-Pro2 looks mighty attractive

Let's see if I can remember.

-Various 126 and 110 cameras (never had the disc cameras)
-Minolta SRT 101

Then went to Autofocus:

-Minolta Maxxum 7000
-Minolta Maxxum 7Xi
-Minolta Maxxum 9 (Was my favorite camera until recently picking up the EOS 1Dx)

Moved (reluctantly) to digital; would not go back now. Changed to Canon because Minolta was working their way out of the business and did not have a competitive offering.

-Canon EOS 30D
-Canon EOS 1Dx

There have also been countless point and shoots that typically last 6 months to a year before I eventually drop them in the water on a fishing trip and they no longer work.

Very wise upgrades. I'd say you have managed to always get a heck of a lot of bang for your buck!

.

Thanks Tom.

I still have them all, and they all still work, lol.

My mother started my photographic training with her Rolleiflex, but I was so young so she bought me a Kodak Hawkeye (a plastic 127 film box camera) that I could operate alone. A few years later she bought me a Kodak Instamatic (the 126 cartridges). So also taught me to develop the films in our home darkroom, but that's another story...

My first “adjustable” camera, a Honeywell Pentax Spotmatic (back when the importer’s name was on the camera) came about the time I started high school.

In college I moved to the Nikon F line, starting with a Nikon F plain prism and later adding an FTN prism model. The F2 with Photomic and Sb prisms followed (with motors), then the FM, the F3, and my last film camera, the F5 (skipped the F4).

I started in digital with the APS sensor D200 and later the D300. Then a move to full frame with the D700, D800, D3 and the D4.

A few years ago I added a Fuji X100 as a small travel camera, and liked it so much I added the X-T1 for it's ability to use my older Nikon lenses and other off-brand glass.

But I missed full frame sensors, so I just added a Sony A7R2.

I continue to use the Nikon system for most projects, but I have enjoyed using the mirrorless with older, more obscure lenses.

My list starts somewhere around 2006 when I was in High School.

Olympus Fe180
Canon Powershot S5 IS
Nikon D3000
Nikon D5000
Nikon D90
Nikon D7000
Nikon D40 (backup to D7000)
Canon 5D
Canon 40D (backup to 5D)
Nikon D7000
Canon 5D
Nikon D600
Nikon D60 (backup to D600)
Canon 6D
Canon EOS-M

Currently own the 6D and EOS-M. I flip flopped back and forth for a while trying new lenses, but never once lost money buying used cheap and selling for more.

My favorite body was the D7000 as I used it for the longest and still to this day feels the best in my hands. The Powershot S5 was a fantastic camera, and I had lots of fun with that over the years. Most of my favorite photos are from my High school years with my Olympus, buts that's the memories documented, not the actual camera.

I am currently on the fence of going back to Nikon with a D610 or trying a Sony A7II. I still don't like my 6D controls after using it only a few times since I got it this past summer, and the IBIS of the Sony seems like a great benefit.
