I guess if you time the shot right you'll never need higher fps, in which case 5 fps would be plenty.

Just my opinion but I think most of the time the high fps is more useful in marketing the camera than in using it. My 7D2 has low speed set to 5 fps. I find 10 fps way to fast for general usage. The camera is rarely at 10 fps.

Note I said 'most of the time'. Two years ago I was shooting Arctic sterns with my T3i, claimed frame rate of 3.7 fps. They were diving in a relatively small area so I just had to point the camera at that spot and shoot in short bursts. No tracking involved. From one frame to the next a bird could go from three feet above the water in a dive, to three feet above the the water after diving in and catching a minnow. A couple of hundred frames later and I never got one were the beak was just hitting the surface. Here a higher frame rate would have been nice.

The T6s actually caught my eye pretty hardily and I'd recommend it over any T#i because of the top LCD and back wheel (mostly the back wheel). But the inability to select anything but full ISO stop manually is still a pretty ridiculous limitation they intentionally put on the Rebel line.
The real problem for me with Rebels now is the size of the grip. After holding a 6d and 70d for longer periods of time, the beefier grip makes a substantial difference. For someone with smaller hands, I'd recommend the T6s.....after the price drops more.

I did some price analyzing and the T6s with the 18-135mm was initially priced at $1159cdn last Xmas it was priced around $1050. It's selling around it's initial release price right now and a bit higher $1199. The next good price won't be till next Christmas where it will probably sell for around $1000 after that the next price level would be in 2 years most likely for $950. So really the price won't change that much.
A new T5i with 18-135mm is $945.99 at the canon estore but an extra $100 will get you a an on sale T6s .. probably worth it.

The 70D with 18-135mm price is through the roof right now $1649! $1249 is the best it was around Christmas. The T6s price jump is not that bad, but the 70D jump is crazy. Probably because it's such a great camera and people still demand it today.

If 70D sales stay strong Canon will hold off on the release of the 80D if it even exists - it's still only speculation until the CP+ show.

A t6s body can be had for $849. Heavy for just the body. B&H Amazon

The T5i I found for $649 so another $100 would get you the T6s. That's a good price no?

Nothing wrong with the Rebel line except the stigma some people attach to it. I still use my T3i quite a bit. I did get a 70D for the higher frame rate and better video capability since I shoot girl's softball. Flash has not been a problem since I normally use my 6D for occasions when I need flash.

I have no clue what new prices are on any Canon camera unless I read about it in reviews or something LOL.
I purchase every single one of my cameras refurb from Canon Direct (T3i, 60d, 70d, 2 6d's). The only exception being my very first camera, a T2i bought brand new. I paid $999/$899(?) with a kit lens and that's just too much to pay for any Rebel now that I have hindsight. I paid $999 for both 6d's and $650 for the 70d and 60d at the time when I bought each of them. Those prices feel much more inline with what I feel they should be, IMCO (In My Cheapo Opinion of course

yeah I love the 17-55 the 2.8 comes in handy in those dark banquet halls.
very small edits...cropping and some minor touch ups, but i had to print on the spot as well (wasnt very fun)
