This rock was found in La Jolla, CA. It appears the pigeons seem found of flying over it when that certain urge hits, and have stained it with their offerings. Notice the human-like features evident on the "face" of the rock. Are they trying to tell us something? Oddly, there is another rock nearby that resembles broken feet from the same toppled statue ~as if.

Very good picture. The lighting really brings out the detail. I think the exposure and color balance are all fine and the subject of interest is isolated while at the same time being shown in its environment. My only problem with the composition is that it should be more in the upper left region rather than in the lower right region (with respect to center).

I have repositioned it in the correct direction, but could not move it as far as I wanted without cropping the rock itself. The ideal is to have the face appear to be looking into the picture rather than out of the picture.

Thanks, Robert. I see what you mean. That is great advice. Someone wrote in one of the forums here how she takes all of these ideas with her everytime she sets up for a shot. THAT was good advice, too, and, after reading through many other posts, I already have several of your suggestions in my arsenal. It would have been better to have taken the shot more from the front, sort of facing the face. When I looked from that point, I lost some of the shadow on the "nose," so the "face" was not as 3-dimentional, and I couldn't see the "dandruff" as well. ~It's all a learning experience.
