I find myself in a strange situation. I keep looking for new toys, but nothing strikes my fancy. I seem to have all the gear I want (that I can afford). Sure, I'd like a 24L II, and a 600 f/4L II, but those are just unrealistic, financially. I may be (not)-suffering from UN-G.A.S. I've actually started selling off stuff I haven't used in a year. I'm just curious, how many of you are, for the most part, satisfied with the gear you have?

You're G.A.S. has developed into a nice little addiction. There should be a 12 step thread to help you walk yourself out of this problem.

Sorry, I don't hang with criminals and perverts. I'd lose my license.

On Canon side I have two DSLRs, one SLR and down to four lenses, three flashes. Enough for all I need. If my 500D and Rebel 2000 clunks out, no plans to replace them.
I'll be fine with what I finally settled with and able to afford - Pro-Consumer Canon FF DSLR camera. 5D for now, MK something at some time.

But for several recent years I went busy on G.A.S. with film gear. Way less expensive now, comparing to digital. Not to collect, but to learn, try and practice. I have tried everything from spy cameras to LF. To find out what I want to keep and use and from what I'm interested to print in the darkroom.
Now I feel great if I sell several items, to buy just one.

My goal in UN-G.A.S. is to have all photogear at three small shelves :)

I was actually very set with my gear and was not going to buy a new body. I see the advantages of the Sony sensor and High ISO capabilities. My cameras are up on the counts. My lowest count is 65000...sold one last year with 120K....but when i saw the specs on the 1Dx2 i decided to jump at it....Most of my glass is V1 glass and im perfectly happy with all my lens.....no need for me to jump on V2 glass

cheaper ways to do it in LR

I'm saving up for a 24-70 II... that will take a while. Other than that..... I only have dreams. Dreams of super telephoto primes like the 500 f/4 IS II, 200-400/560.... stuff like that. I already have the tripod for them, just not the cash and it doesn't look like that cash will show up any time soon.

Its not that I don't want more, but I haven't bought any new gear in like 2 years. I am waiting to see what the 6D2 and 5D4 offer and may go FF. I will probably pick up a FF UWA for it when/if I make the jump. I would like a 100-400 II or 150-600 C on the long side too, but being winter now its curbing my desires which is probably a good thing for the wallet.

On some level there's always stuff I'd "like" to have but lately I haven't had to talk myself down from buying new stuff the way I may have had to in the past. If anything I've been sticking to a smaller subset of my gear than in the past. (Lately I've been content just using my 6D and 50 1.4 most of the time.)

Feeling kind of same, actually. I think more about how to maintain existing gear under use, these days. The next camera might happen if I can save up for it, but that might be perhaps 2017. Basically, foto shoot earnings have to pay for any GAS. But I don't feel impacted by not having certain new things right now.

From where I used to be - very.

I used to be crazy about the the gear. Then I got to use a school camera that I am unfortunately made to use for projects (Panasonic video camera). I figured out the entire camera in about 15 minutes hands-on WITHOUT reading the manual. Never in my life had I gotten so bored with new gear so quickly. Not to mention it was fighting me every step of the way with most things I tried to do. That solved my G.A.S. so very very quickly. Until the 6D2 comes out (and I'll need to build a kit around that), I'm perfectly happy with my 60D and "useless" Tamron 17-50 VC. Although I do need a macro lens and a stabilized 35mm prime, but need is different from want.

Update: I gave in to a little bit of G.A.S. About 2 months ago, the AF went out on my 50 1.4. I sold it (yes, full disclosure that the AF was wonky) for cheap. Today I gave in and bought a refurbished 50 STM, and an $8 hood. At least I didn't break the bank. I hope that isn't the start of a slide back down the slippery slope...

Tom, gear maintenance is not what I'd consider G.A.S. More like prudence. The really interesing thing about technology is one can almost always get an "upgrade," after something gives out, and often at a better price point, or with more performance. Glad you did not break the bank, I feel your pain there.
