I'm not sure "slightly better optically wide open" qualifies for crapping on the other lens. Your exaggeration is distasteful and misleading. The Laowa gains an entire stop over the Sigma. It's half the weight and a lot smaller. The two are very similar optically at 12mm. I doubt that anyone would notice any difference between them in real world shooting. The Sigma is only a little sharper wide open. But looses sharpness past f5.6, where as the Laowa is still gaining sharpness to f11. The laowa's biggest issue against the Sigma is that it's not a zoom, so it's not as versatile and that it's all manual. The Sigma has AF and an electronic controlled diaphragm...which allows for 1/3 aperture increments. The Laowa is whole stops only. But optically, in real world use...neither is a deal breaker.
