I heard an interview with a guy that was in there for a while and he said on certain nights he could hear the sounds of parties.....laughing, music...from the mainland.

I am curious about something. Bob, how did the guy in the interview know that the sounds he heard were from the mainland, and not from the peninsula that lies between his location and the mainland? I mean, to hear sounds at such a distance is one thing, but to be able to accurately discern exactly where the sounds are coming from seems virtually impossible.
