This shot is awesome. It has a cinematic (movie or gaming) feel to it. Its like this guy is heading out to an unknown world to conquer all that gets in his way. OR he just slayed a dragon from the dark world and is walking out to be celebrated by the masses in the light world.

It's not just the difference between coming and going. The point of views of the two pictures are different, and in the going-away picture the subject is a bit closer to the door. The psychological effect may be influenced by all these factors.

Even without detail, everyone in the scene looks elderly. It must be a Gestalt thing.

From a backpacking trip this weekend to the Washington Coast... Normally, I'd edit people out who get in my shots, but something about this person being there, the footprints, and the classic mood of PNW weather - their presence seemed fitting to me.
