This is the reflection of an incandescent light bulb from a radial diffraction grating. The grating is part of a child’s toy. The child is supposed to look through it for starburst kaleidoscope effect. Photographs though it were ho-hum. Reflections from it were a little more interesting.

It was intended as a spoof on the complaints of banding in other forums. This “banding” is simply the effect achieved bouncing an incandescent light off a diffraction grid which gave the banded rainbow effect. It is a single exposure.
