Berry Firsts

For years I've wanted to get close enough to get some Cedar Waxwing shots and about a week ago I finally came across a few feeding. They stayed fairly high in the tree so the angles are steeper than I'd like but I'm pleased to finally have a few in my collection. I threw in a couple of House Finches too for good measure.

Beautiful work. I'm going to by some Shadbush serviceberry trees for the ones around here. They go nuts over the berries in June.

Thanks, they sure are slick. I was hoping to have one come real close but the Teleconverter did pretty well.

Thanks, years ago when we lived at another location we had a Holly tree next to the driveway. I always new when the Waxwings had come through by the purple poop on my Jeep. That's a great idea, I think if I were to move again I'd look into planting something similar and making an elevated blind to stake it out about 8 feet up.

We've got a bunch of serviceberry trees at my current workplace and when they ripen in June the waxwings and bluebirds devour them. I used to work at a huge wholesale landscape company, and of all the fruit bearing trees we had the serviceberry trees were the favorite among the waxwings.

That is an absolutely beautiful set. I love the brilliant color of the red berries and the birds together.

Those colours look super. Will have to plant somme berry trees to have some of those visitors drop by. Good job and excellent details!
