Random question, how much do you think would be reasonable for an ad agency license a photo for usage in an ad campaign to visit a major city?

Feb 22, 2016 15:58 | #2 I have only licensed a few so I am definitely not an expert but a lot of factors can determine the price. Electronic ad, print ads, how many copies will be printed, advertising duration, front cover, placed inside magazine, regional or worldwide. Do you license it Royalty Free or Rights Managed. The uniqueness of the image. I think it is really hard to really know without details. It could be as low as $10 to several thousand. 'Imagination is more important than knowledge.'

Mar 21, 2016 10:52 | #7 Now that I've been paid, I'll share more about the photo, I was skeptical about this request because I don't take photos professionally, they just reached out to me on Flickr. Although the one that initiated the discussion was another older edit that I accidentally deleted from Flickr somehow (lightroom does crazy things like that sometimes). Anyhow, I asked them a bunch of questions about how many prints they wanted to use it for and what they customarily paid for the usage they were going to use it for. They said between $2200 and $2500, and since this isn't how I make my living I was very happy with that. When they asked about the final price to make their deadlines, I just told them $2500 and they agreed without any questions. Anyhow, I have also requested copies of the ads but I have not got any yet, so if you're in the Denver area and have seen my photo, let me know! It was a pleasant surprise for the license request. I did a search on Flickr for Denver skylines and this location seems to be pretty unique, I have other photos of Denver but there are like a million of the same location.
