problems with Paintshop Pro X8

I started the free trial of this program yesterday and I'm hoping someone can help me with a couple issues.

1)How to print using printer profiles is really unclear. Instead of choosing your profile info in the print dialog, it looks like you're supposed to go to color management then choose proofing and then choose your profile as if it were on an "emulated device."

2)In the edit window my background color has gotten set to a pale blue; it shows that way in both the image being edited and the color picker. When I put the eye-dropper on anything that's that blue (either in the image or the color picker) it shows to be 255,255,255 so it thinks that's white. So when I click the little icon that's supposed to set the default background/foreground colors it doesn't do anything because it thinks it's already white. But everything on the screen that's white text (menus etc) are actually white, not blue.

If anyone has any input on these issues I'd appreciate it.

Sorry I can't help on this particular issue, but my recent experience with paintshop pro x8,,,left me very unhappy with a bug that developed that they could not resolve. After many many hours of frustration,,and no resolve,,,I got my money back.

Sorry to hear that. It may be a moot point for me though. This evening I bought a package deal of X7 and Aftershot Pro 2 for $15 because I wanted to try ASP2. I'm trying different programs, looking for a replacement for PS Elements; who knows what I'll end up with! So what did you end up with?

I'm still trying out PhotoLine,,and also ACDSee. no conclusion yet. Don't want--need complex,,just easy to use.

Well, I got PhotoLine and it is a trip! Wow! Seems to be very capable but it's like it's from another planet!

This post is really for anyone who may look at this because they're thinking about PSP X8.

I couldn't get rid of the blue "whites" so I uninstalled and reinstalled the program and that fixed the problem. But later when I was playing with it, it froze up, wouldn't do anything at all. I had to use Windows Task Manager to close it down.

I had put in an online support request 2 days ago and they just responded to me today. Their suggestion was to uninstall and reinstall, which, as I said, I had already done.

The thing that I really don't understand is that I've read a lot of posts on another forum where people said they switched from photoshop to PSP (not X8, an earlier version) so the earlier versions must have had something on the ball. But between my experience, keeperseeker's experience, and a 2-day wait for a support response, I just can't see it. Maybe I'll have better luck with that X7 I ordered so that I could try ASP2.

I tried to order it earlier this week. I spoke with a "help guy" on the phone and explained my needs in detail. He said he would send me an email with a shopping cart and that PSP would be $79 instead of $99.
I go the email and it was there in the cart, but when I read "system requirements" it said it needed any one of 3 different Windows-based operating systems in order to work. I had specifically told the guy on the phone that I had an iMac. I emailed back to tell them that they put the wrong version in my cart. The email I got back really surprised me:

This little square that's white now and shows to be 255,255,255 was pale blue but still showed 255,255,255. Everything that was supposed to be white in any picture was pale blue. The little half-black, half-white icon that you click to set the foreground/background to black/white didn't have any effect because the program thought the background was already white.
It's a moot point now because, as I said above, I uninstalled and reinstalled the app and now the colors are correct.

Yep, Corel has since I can recall, developed for Windows OS only. I was an Administrator for their help web forum for about 8 yrs. We always had the Windows only complaint. Corel's response was there is simply not enough market demand for Macs.
