For my taste, this is nearly a 'perfect' portrait. I would only tone down that bright circular light on the left that draws the eye away from a wonderful exposure of the subject.

Would you mind sharing the lighting setup for this shot?

Love the 40's Butterfly lighting! It's still glamourous to my eyes... To my eyes this image is slightly overexposed by about .7 of a stop, but I'm old... lol. Regardless, it's a great capture.

I could be wrong, but, assuming that Bryzf1 took this for this senior high school student, this place, and the things around the subject hold meaning for the client. These may not be distractions at all. To me, it's an intriguing photo.

I understand the whole "cluttered background" bit, but in some cases, the background is actually what makes the image, IMO. I too "like" the image, as it def tells a "story".

Apr 28, 2020 19:32 | #911 I would suggest that you, and most subjects you shoot make eye contact with the camera. Look right down that lens.

I like this image, except his shirt collar being folded under the jacket. Was that intentional?
