The first digital cameras exceeded the DR capabilities of the naked eye

It is the brain combining multiple exposures (at different exposure levels and focus distances) and applying expectations to come to a perceived image.

Oh no there are going to be a lot of disappointed people-Canon have reportedly gone and improved DR and after reading 20 pages in another thread how terrible improved DR is I'm sure this camera will bomb ;)

I don't give a trout about 4K either.

I'm so irked I don't have money to buy a 1DX whilst there are still some brand new ones around. vmad

I really hope Canon has something close to immediate availability for this camera. Opening pre-orders on the day of announcement with fulfillment beginning two weeks later would be incredible!

1x CFast & 1x SD. Where do they (Canon) come up with these strategies ??

I hate SD cards but I have to admit that is way way way more popular and easier to find than a CF card.

How unpopular are CF slots in cameras? There are only 4 Canon and 3 Nikon bodies that use it today. I expect them it to be reduced by 3 Canon and 2 Nikon bodies by the end of this year.

By comparison almost all cameras use SD or microSD cards.

I look forward to the 5D3 replacement having between 24-51MP.

It having CFast (600MB/s) + UHS-II (312MB/s) SD card will allow for 10fps drive, hopefully.

CF cards are sadly limited to 167MB/s.

What else? :)

How about ISO 100-51,200? :)

10fps drive would hurt the 7D Mark II more than the 1DX2.

"Rumours have surfaced today about the next generation of Canon 5D, which will allegedly drop the ‘Mark’ and be called simply the ‘5DX’"

... until the next model where the "dropped" Mark will make a triumphant return after the "X" as in 1DX Mark II.

I find it amusing that people are fighting over a rumored name. Whether it be a Mark IV or X who cares?

Hmmmm? A discussion about a notice about a rumor that was incorrectly sourced to begin with. As AJ would say, "Verrrrrrrrrryyy interesting!"

I can't see the new 5D doing 10fps, it would compete too much with the 1DX II seeing as a new 5D would probably equal or better the 1DX original in most areas but at 10fps and at half the price of the new 1Dx II.

10 FPS is a very capable speed, I know some people slow down their 1DX to 10 fps.

I'm betting on 8FPS, doesn't sell it as a speed demon but 8 fps is still very capable and its a nice increase from 6 fps

Limited because of the slowness of the Digic 6+ chip?

8 fps would make me very, very happy. :) I passed on the 5D III as I wanted to see just a slightly higher burst rate for shooting ice hockey.

I agree with you . . . 10 FPS is very capable. If the 5D III replacement does 10 FPS it will probably cut into 1DX II sales.

Camera size constraints. See the D500.
