I was curious about the shutter count on my Canon 5D3, and this is what it is.

I didn't believe it so took some shots after and in fact, yes it is!

The chances of hitting it? Eventually near 100% I'd say, assuming you actually use the camera. For some, like pro sports or wedding shooters, it probably doesn't take that long to get there.

If you're actually out taking photos with your camera, it's not hard at all take that many photos. So to answer your question about what are the odds, I would say the odds are at or very near 100%.

Edit: Ooops, I looked right past the obvious! See my post below for more info.

I think the question might be more "what are the odds that you hit that shutter count when you perform a shutter count check", or hope so. :)

Otherwise, yes 100% for those with more than 123,455 shutter actuations. This would feel like some sort of trick question on a stat test. :D

It's obvious what his question is. Everyone here just likes to be a troll! :p

That is pretty crazy! The odds of you checking the shutter count and it being 12345 are pretty low! Unless you check it frequently. If you are like me, you never check unless you are selling it. So it would be insane for me that the ONE time I check it, it is at 12345.

Ah, I totally overlooked that! That's funny! I'm walking over to the fridge right now to get some caffeine. I obviously need to wake up this morning!

Finally, someone said the obvious. There will now be a brief pause while the first repliers extract their tongues from their cheeks.
