I have 2 YN flashes right now, there both different and I do not recall their numbers. One does TTL and the other does not which is fine. I am using the YN603 triggers right now.

So what I need help with is I plan to pick up at a minimum 4 new flashes all the same model and new triggers. My wife and I do weddings and I need a trigger system that would allow us to both use a set of triggers to control our respected OCF's that I will have set up. It would also be great if we could change the output power of the units from the camera but that is not as important as both of us controlling our own flashes.

Which flash units would you recommend, no HSS or ttl needed
Which TX RX units would you recomend

Both using Canon bodies.

YN-622cTX and 622C can handle that, easily. You can use as many flash units as you want on each camera. Just set each camera/flash system to its own channel, and each channel can control three groups.. I use YN-622 stuff w/EX II flash units. Never a hiccup.

Heya,

If you want to save a little bit, just use Yongnuo 560 IV's. They have built in receivers, so no additional transceivers needed for them, they are manual, and with the TX-560 controller, you can have up to 6 groups, change power and zoom on all of them, turn some groups on & off to completely control your flash units. They are generally $60~70 a piece, and a single TX560 is about $45. So if you refit all your units that way, you only buy 4 flash (560 IV's) at $280 or so new, and a single controller, the TX560 for $45, so $320 out the door brand new shipped for a complete setup. Just add batteries.

If you want to have ETTL, HSS, etc, as an option, you can instead get Yongnuo 685's for $100 a piece. They too have built in receivers, and a single controller will change their groups, power levels, zoom, and the other settings too, from a single TX-622 controller that is also only $45 or so. That would be a $450 all in purchase. Just add batteries. It's functionally the same as the 560 protocol, but, you gain ETTL and HSS as options just in case you ever want them (such as on-camera TTL bounce which is very handy). They're only $30 more per flash, so you get a lot of extra perks going that direction. The TX622 has fewer groups than the TX560, but, the beauty is, you can use the TX560 also with the YN685's, and use them as manual flashes, and they will function on the 560 protocol and also be capable of using 6 groups with that controller. So get both controllers, so you have the ability to have several ETTL/HSS groups if you want, with the TX622, or more groups in manual, using them with the TX560. Super flexible flash in that sense. Still only two controllers tops needed to benefit both.

So you save $130 if you go manual (560 IV's and a TX560). That's two more flashes. So you could get 6 flashes for the same cost and use all 6 in separate groups on the 560 protocol.

Very best,

The 560tx will allow me to have two channels as well right. Or would i just make two different groups one for my wifes camera and one for mine?

Heya,

You can of course use channels, but with the TX560 the point is to have groups, so you can manage the groups from a controller. Channels are hard set, so doing that, you'd have to change things manually. The group system allows you both to use different groups and operate the same flashes, or just groups of those same flashes. You can have lots of channels. But you can have 6 groups (and groups allow you to control power output, zoom setting, group on/off, etc). Very configurable.

Very best,

You could use YN 560IIIs or IVs and 560-TX
The 560IIIs are slightly cheaper and older and have built in receiver and can be remotely controlled by the TX to adjust Zoom and Power and configured to be in one of six groups

The 560IVs are newer version and include a transmitter so can be set as master or slave, when set as master they can control up to 3 groups.

The 560-TX can also be used to trigger your existing 603s but not in groups or with any remote control of power or zoom etc.

Each setup can operated one of 16 predefined channels.

I would suggest you need a TX for yourself and one for your wife both set to different channels not groups.

Groups will enable you to have different power settings on each flash, which will not be possible if you use groups to segregate your setup from your wifes....

I believe the 600 and 622 series mentioned by others will give you TTL capability and compatibility with Canons RT system Speedlights ...

HTH and that I have understood your question.
