There are a lot of hand straps out there and most are very good. So it all comes down to personal opinion I think.

Personally I like the Peak Designs clutch.

Why not start with the Canon brand one? Last time I bought one they were pretty cheap. Under $20 if I remember correctly.

The Peak Design Clutch is way overpriced IMO.

Never used any of custom slr's products so I can speak for them. If the reviews on it are good then I'd say give it a try.

That's a wrist strap not a hand strap.

This is canons hand strap, which is $20 more then the clutch and the clutch comes with an arca-Swiss comparable plate! ;)

Dear Ron,

I have OpTech grip straps on both of my dslr's and I love them. When I got the first one I wondered how comfortable it would be in the warmer months because it is made of neoprene but I soon found out that wasn't a problem.

I have a good bit of OpTech gear and everything that I have bought including the factory seconds purchased from their website are well made and high quality.

Regards,

Tim Murphy :-)

:-DMornin all.
Heres what i decided ! like Tim said i have used OP?TEC neck straps for years and have had good service from them,,
Neck strap vs Hand strap ??not sure if i will like a hand strap ! never used one,,,but @ 74 i now have some "arthur" in my hands? so i am going to try a hand strap?
Last night i ordered a look alike clone strap off ebay,,cheap,$3.22 shipped..i will give it a try ?if i like it i will get a Custom SLR strap or one from OP?TEC like Jon and Tim said..
I will let you know how this works out
Thanks Ron:-)

Oh yea, I forgot about the Op/Tech hand strap. I have one laying around. I never use hand straps, but I did like the quality of the Op/Tech, as always. And the price.

Dear Ronnie,

I honestly have no idea about what arthritis does to a person, but with any luck at all I'll live long enough to learn that.

As long as your shoulder is in good shape I will tell you that you can hang a camera using the OP/TECH grip strap off your arm until you fall over and die. I don't wish that on you or anyone, it's just my way of saying the product is that secure. I've walked 3 to 4 miles across the Assateague National Wildlife Refuge with a Canon 1DMK2 and Sigma 150-500 and never once for even a second felt like I would or could lose camera that was only hanging off my arm for most of the walk.

Take care and I hope you find a solution that works for you!

Regards,

Tim Murphy :-)
